Customer Service

  • Greet and welcome customers in a friendly and professional manner
  • Take food and beverage orders, accurately enter them into the system, and ensure customer needs are met
  • Absorb and answer questions about the menu
  • Assist customers in selecting menu items, offering suggestions, and answering questions about the menu
  • Ensure customers receive their orders promptly and with the highest quality of service
  • Handle customer complaints or concerns professionally and escalate issues to management if needed

Food Preparation

  • Prepare food and beverages according to Miss J's Café standards, including sandwiches, salads, soups, and other menu items
  • Operate kitchen equipment, including grills, ovens, blenders, and toasters, safely and efficiently
  • Maintain proper food storage and organization in accordance with food safety regulations
  • Ensure all food items are fresh, properly portioned, and meet café quality standards

Cleanliness and Sanitation

  • Keep the dining area, kitchen, and prep areas clean, organized, and sanitized throughout your shift
  • Regularly clean and disinfect surfaces, equipment, and restrooms to maintain a clean and safe environment
  • Follow all health and safety guidelines, including proper handwashing, food handling, and cleaning procedures

Cash Handling and Register

  • Operate the cash register and process customer payments accurately
  • Provide change, issue receipts, and assist with any other payment-related tasks
  • Maintain a balanced cash drawer by following cash handling procedures

Inventory and Stocking

  • Assist in maintaining inventory levels, ensuring food supplies are stocked and readily available
  • Notify management when stock is running low or when supplies need to be reordered
  • Help with receiving and organizing deliveries, checking quality, and ensuring proper storage of products

Teamwork and Collaboration

  • Work cooperatively with other team members to ensure a smooth workflow during shifts
  • Absorb and assist with opening and closing duties, including setting up or closing the café, cleaning, and restocking supplies
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues and supervisors to ensure tasks are completed efficiently

Adherence to Policies

  • Follow all company policies and procedures, including safety protocols, food handling, and customer service standards
  • Maintain a professional demeanor at all times and contribute to a positive work environment
  • Participate in training sessions and contribute to ongoing learning about café operations

Requirements

  • Strong customer service skills, with a positive, friendly, and approachable attitude
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • Basic math skills for handling cash and processing payments
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work well as part of a team
  • Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions
