About the Role
The Minister of Music and Senior Adults is responsible for planning, conducting, and evaluating a comprehensive music ministry for all age groups and for senior adult-related activities within the church. This is a full-time, exempt position for a "called" staff member who models integrity, character, and compassion in ministry.
Responsibilities
- Lead the church in planning, conducting, and evaluating a comprehensive music ministry for all age groups and senior adult-related activities.
- Work with staff and volunteer leadership to develop ministries that support the church’s mission.
- Coordinate all music ministry productions and rehearsals with the church calendar.
- Plan congregational worship services, selecting music that complements the pastor’s messages and meets their approval.
- Participate in weddings and funerals, ensuring songs are appropriate for a church setting.
- Develop and maintain relationships with church accompanists, musicians, and sound/lighting/video technicians.
- Participate in church-wide visitation and evangelization efforts.
- Coordinate senior adult activities, including trips, conventions, seminars, and travel opportunities.
- Manage performance schedules for outside music groups and individuals invited to minister at the church.
- Maintain the church music library.
- Guide the selection, enlistment, and training of music ministry workers in conjunction with the Nominating Committee.
- Develop and administer the annual budget for music and senior adult ministries.
- Stay current in music and senior adult ministry through personal study, clinics, and conferences.
- Arrange replacements for worship services when unavailable, in coordination with the pastor.
- Participate in hospital, nursing home, and home visitation as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the pastor.
