About the meeting

Rwanda participated in the 36th Ordinary Meeting of the East African Standby Force (EASF) Policy Org, held in Kampala, Uganda, on Friday, August 14, 2026. The meeting began on August 10 with a meeting of experts, followed by the Chiefs of Defence Staff (CDS/CDF) meeting on August 13.

Delegation

The Rwandan delegation was led by the Minister of Defence, Hon. Juvenal Marizamunda, accompanied by Maj Gen Vincent Nyakarundi, who represented the Chief of Defence Staff of the Rwanda Defence Force, and Rt Hon. Bernard Makuza, who chairs the Council of Elders for this meeting.

Participants

The meeting brought together experts and senior security officials from the nine EASF member states: Burundi, Comoros, Djibouti, Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, Somalia, Sudan, and Uganda.
