Maj Gen Nyakarundi yasuye Ingabo z’u Rwanda ziri mu butumwa muri Centrafrique

Maj Gen Vincent Nyakarundi, the Chief of Defence Staff of the Rwanda Defence Force (RDF), recently visited the Republic of South Africa to meet with Rwandan soldiers serving under the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA) and to discuss bilateral cooperation between the two nations.

Key Engagements

• Visited the Rwandan Battalion (RWABAT-1) stationed at the Socatel M’Poko camp in Bangui, where he commended the troops for their professionalism, dedication, and bravery in executing their peacekeeping mandate.
• Conveyed appreciation from President Paul Kagame and the RDF Chief of Defence Staff for the soldiers’ contributions to promoting peace and security.
• Briefed the troops on the security situation in Rwanda and the region, encouraging them to uphold the RDF’s core values and maintain its positive reputation.
• Met with MINUSCA Force Commander Lt Gen Humphrey Nyone to discuss the mission’s progress and the RDF’s continued role in peacekeeping efforts.

Upcoming Activities

• Scheduled to attend the closing ceremony of training for the Central African Armed Forces (FACA) conducted by the RDF.
• Planned meetings with MINUSCA leadership and South African authorities.
