Mining Engineer

Pronto AI is a global leader in commercializing autonomous vehicle (AV) technology, deploying Autonomous Haulage Systems (AHS) that automate operations in mines, quarries, and construction sites worldwide. About the role

You will deliver projects to the agreed-upon performance metrics, ensuring the autonomous system integrates seamlessly into the mine’s production cycle. This includes managing the local field team, overseeing permitting, scheduling, safety compliance, and work performance. You will also act as the primary liaison between the customer site and Pronto HQ, providing progress reports and escalating technical or operational blockers.

• Hold the customer accountable for their deliverables, including resource commitments, machine availability, and site/route/equipment readiness.
• Work with customers to set up or modify existing operational processes to accommodate autonomous haulage.
• Lead customer training programs on Pronto technology and manage the formal handover of the system to the mine’s operations team.

Requirements

• 15+ years of direct mining experience, with deep knowledge of mine site environments, production, and safety.
• 5–10 years in a leadership role (e.g., Site Superintendent, Maintenance Manager, or Fleet Manager).
• Proven track record of participating in technology rollouts, such as autonomy, remote operations, telematics, or machine control systems.
• University Degree in Mining Engineering (highly preferred).
• Must be based in AZ, CA, TX, or WY.

Skills

• Operational authority to command respect on-site and influence customer decision-making.
• Adaptability in transitioning mines from manual to technology-assisted or autonomous operations.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills for executive-level reporting.

Schedule

• On-site deployment with regional stays near the customer site (local accommodations or customer-provided quarters).
• Mining rotations (e.g., x weeks on, y weeks off) instead of a standard office schedule.
• Initial 2-month on-site commitment for the Ma’aden demo project.

This role requires up to 75% travel, including international locations, and a highly mobile work environment.

Pay

The base salary range for this role is $81,000 - $102,000 per year, with actual compensation determined by experience, skills, and qualifications. Additional rewards may include equity awards and an annual performance-based bonus.
