About the role

As a MineStar Performance Manager, you will be at the core of both staffed and autonomous mining operations, partnering closely with customers to elevate safety, efficiency, and operational excellence. This role sits within the MineStar Performance Center, with a key focus on optimizing the performance of MineStar Fleet and Command for Hauling applications across the region. You’ll work directly with customers, dealers, and internal teams to drive measurable improvements using data, assessments, and performance tools—and act on opportunities that unlock value.

Responsibilities

  • Called upon as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support safe and effective performance for MineStar Fleet and Command for Hauling customers.
  • Lead and deliver Site Assessments, continuous improvement (CI) initiatives, and performance tool implementations.
  • Apply advanced methodologies and tools to define, measure, analyze, improve, and control performance for MineStar applications.
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to Caterpillar teams, dealers, and mining customers.
  • Advise customers on operational best practices and CI opportunities to unlock higher performance.
  • Maintain and update operational documentation to reflect best practices and performance insights.
  • Collaborate with internal product, engineering, and support teams to enhance technology offerings.
  • Support both contractual and non-contractual customer performance commitments.

  • Extensive experience in surface mining operations
  • Advanced knowledge of MineStar Fleet, Command for Hauling, or other mining technologies
  • Deep understanding of operational excellence and mining processes.

  • Applies performance improvement methodologies to diagnose complex operational, technical, or process-driven challenges.
  • Comfort working across diverse themes—data analysis, coding, validation, documentation, coaching, project management.

Effective Communications

  • Demonstrates exceptional interpersonal and communication skills across frontline, technical, and leadership audiences.
  • Leads and supports change management efforts, guiding customers and internal partners through adoption and continuous improvement.
  • Builds strong relationships and influences customer decision-making through credibility, insight, and clear articulation of value.

Field Support

  • Shows a strong commitment to expanding expertise across additional MineStar applications and related technologies.
  • Serves as a trusted escalation point for complex field challenges, collaborating with customers and internal teams to resolve issues effectively.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Mining Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Data Science/Analytics, or IT
  • Extensive experience working in conventional or autonomous surface mining operations
  • Experience with mining technology systems or heavy mining equipment
  • Knowledge of French or Spanish would be considered advantageous
  • Professional Engineer or the ability to register as a Professional Engineer would be considered advantageous

Additional Information

Location: The primary work location for this role is Phoenix, AZ and requires on-site work five days a week.

Travel: This position may require approximately 25–50% to Caterpillar offices and remote mine locations.

Relocation: Domestic relocation assistance is available for this position.

Sponsorship: Visa sponsorship or international assignment transfers are not available.

Pay

Pay Range $128,470.00 - $192,710.00
