Where You Will Work

Tyrone is an open-pit copper mining complex in Grant County, New Mexico, near the historic mining community of Silver City. The facility includes a solvent extraction/electrowinning operation with an annual capacity of approximately 100 million pounds of copper. Silver City offers a variety of amenities including restaurants, arts, entertainment, historical sites, and recreational activities.

What You Will Do

• Aids in planning and performing mining engineering tasks related to development and production at assigned sites
• Supports the development of mining plans to align with short and long-term planning and production goals
• Participates in engineering feasibility studies to determine appropriate mining methods, equipment, mine site facilities, and manpower and production requirements
• Maintains oversight of mining methods and equipment to enhance performance
• Assists in designing mine, mine ventilation, waste dumps, and stockpile systems
• Identifies strategies to improve safety, operational efficiency, cost control, and environmental protection
• Performs other duties as assigned

What You Bring To Freeport

• Bachelor's degree in Mining or Geological Engineering with no prior experience required
• Knowledge of mining engineering principles and practices
• Ability to research and analyze complex information and draw valid conclusions
• Awareness of occupational hazards and adherence to safety protocols
• Effective communication skills, both oral and written

Preferred Qualifications

• Preferred qualifications include relevant work experience and advanced degrees in mining or geological engineering

What We Offer You

The estimated annual pay range for this role is currently $75,000-$104,000. This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonuses, benefits, or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills, and other job-related factors.
