Mine Engineer

Virgina Seeking a Mine Engineer to provide technical leadership and operational support. This role combines mine planning, contractor management, and field execution to deliver safe, efficient, and cost-effective outcomes. Position works in a combination of field and mine office-based environments, with regular exposure to active mining and construction operations. Requires the ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and a proactive, independent and hands-on approach.  Key Responsibilities Safety & Compliance Promote strong safety culture, ensure compliance with all HSE regulations and company standardsOversee contractor safety practices, including field risk management and hazard controlsConduct inspections, audits, and incident investigationsEnsure environmental controls (dust, drainage, spill prevention) are maintained Technical Engineering & Mine Planning Execute mining plans based on modeling and sequencing using Maptek VulcanDevelop and execute near-term mine plans and production schedulesPerform engineering analyses, trade-off studies, and cost evaluationsPrepare technical reports and support permitting activities Contractor Management & Operations Monitor daily performance of contractors and mining crewsMonitor productivity, equipment utilization, and plan complianceValidate contractor reporting, timesheets, and cost submissionsIdentify inefficiencies and implement corrective actions Construction & Tailings Oversight Supervise tailings and earthworks construction activitiesEnsure compliance with engineering designs, specifications, and quality standardsCoordinate survey, as-built verification, and construction recordsIdentify and resolve design or construction deviations Cost Control & Reporting Track costs against budget and forecastMonitor KPIs, productivity, and contractor performancePrepare regular operational and cost reportsIdentify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements Qualifications & Experience Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering or related discipline2+ years of mining experienceProficiency in mine planning software (Vulcan preferred)Experience working with contractors and earthworks operationsMineral sands experience desirableStrong technical and analytical capability
