Milwaukee Magazine Editorial Internship, Spring 2027

About the role

Milwaukee Magazine is offering an Editorial Internship for Spring 2027. We seek journalists with a commitment to accuracy and detail and a knack for telling Milwaukee’s stories to our 200,000-plus readers. Interns will focus on fact‑checking, contribute writing for our print editions and website (milwaukeemag.com), participate in larger research projects, and join brainstorming sessions that help shape the magazine’s editorial direction. Former interns often move on to full‑time positions at newspapers, magazines or other communication outlets, or return as regular freelance contributors.

Responsibilities

• Fact‑checking
• Writing for print editions and the website (milwaukeemag.com)
• Involvement in larger research projects
• Participation in brainstorming sessions to determine editorial content

Qualifications

• Experience working in a journalistic environment (professional or student publication)
• Comfort verifying facts; never assume information is correct
• Knowledge of AP Style
• Familiarity with Milwaukee Magazine (or willingness to become familiar)
• Ability to receive college course credit for the internship (college credit requirement)

Schedule

• 15‑20 hours per week
• Hybrid work schedule
