About the Role
Barnes-Jewish Hospital at Washington University Medical Center is the largest hospital in Missouri and is ranked as one of the nation's top hospitals by U.S. News & World Report. The Facilities Engineering department maintains 6 million square feet of facilities dedicated to clinical and academic functions, comprising 150 professionals, including engineers, MEP mechanics, building finishes, and support staff. This is a safety-sensitive position requiring the ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
Schedule
Wed - Saturdays, 6am-5pm
Responsibilities
- Participate in the Preventive Maintenance program on all equipment for continuous improvement of all machines.
- Keep detailed and accurate maintenance reports and documentation.
- Review and interpret complex engineering specifications, schematics, and blueprints to determine work procedures.
- Assemble and install new machinery, including robots and electronic controls.
- Transfer equipment to applicable sites for maintenance to avoid contamination or safety hazards.
- Operate machine tools to fabricate parts required during overhaul, maintenance, or set-up of machinery.
- Install stationary industrial machinery and mechanical equipment according to layout plans.
- Serve as the first point of contact with management when equipment goes down.
- Visit various construction sites to assess potential problems or needs.
- Collaborate with construction workers or engineers when using machines.
- Adhere to workplace safety policies, regulations, and compliance standards.
- Collect and store distinct machinery parts.
- Sharpen and maintain machine tools.
- Use a range of hand tools, including measuring tools, welding, and brazing equipment.
- Move machinery using hoists, dollies, rollers, and trucks as needed.
- Disassemble and reassemble machine parts for transport or repair to ensure proper function.
- Inspect and examine machinery and equipment to detect irregularities and malfunctions.
- Ensure operating safety devices function properly after repairs, modifications, or installations.
- Maintain a clean and environmentally safe work area by cleaning, lubricating, and performing routine maintenance on machinery.
Requirements
- Associate degree or trade school equivalent.
- 2-5 years of experience as a Millwright.
