What You'll Do
- Demonstrate the ability to uphold safety policies and practices.
- Follow company and OSHA safety procedures, attend safety meetings, and ensure compliance with safety programs.
- Collaborate with millwright and maintenance teammates on repairs, projects, and production.
- Troubleshoot mechanical issues and assist with unscheduled repairs.
- Conduct daily inspections and report defects or needed repairs.
- Manage yard operations, production, and maintenance.
- Assign duties, breaks, and lunches to hourly and temporary employees.
- Maintain professionalism and confidentiality.
- Perform yard-related tasks as needed.
- Ensure processed scrap meets customer specifications.
- Coordinate material flow between different departments.
- Supervise inventory management, including raw materials and finished goods.
- Perform other job duties as assigned.
What You'll Need
- Minimum 1-year previous managerial or supervisory experience in heavy manufacturing environments, preferably in scrap metal or construction.
- Minimum 3 years previous experience in industrial/outdoor work environments and operating heavy equipment.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, non-stop environment.
- Excellent administrative and computer skills with strong organizational abilities.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work standing or walking for up to 12 hours per day.
- Strong mechanical abilities, including welding, fabrication, and tool knowledge.
- Adaptability to frequent changes and priorities.
- Dependable attendance and flexibility to work off-hours, weekends, and holidays, including overtime and six days a week.
- Ability to work in extreme heat and weather conditions.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Bilingual proficiency is preferred.
