Millwright Laborer

About the role

Hunter Contracting Co. is a family-owned, heavy civil contracting firm serving Arizona since 1961. We are looking for good, hard-working, high-energy, self-motivating, professional individuals to grow with our project needs. Under general supervision, assists Millwright, Millwright Foreman and/or Superintendent to assemble various types of machinery and piping as well as perform demolition duties in a WTP/WWTP environment.

Responsibilities

• Digs ditches or trenches, backfills excavations, and compacts and levels earth to specifications.
• Aligns and positions pipes and machinery under the direction of Millwright Foreman.
• Performs demolition to remove concrete wall systems using air powered demo equipment such as jackhammers, chipping hammers, etc.; also uses small hand tools such as drills, rotary hammers, torque wrenches, air powered impact wrenches and mechanical tools.
• Assists in installation of all new hardware including piping, rail systems and cloth filter material.
• Measures, marks, and records openings and distances to lay out areas where work is to be performed; must be adept at using tape measures and able to comprehend site layout plans.
• Applies caulking compounds by hand or using caulking guns.
• Adheres to all Hunter Contracting Co. safety policies, procedures, and instructions from management.
• Performs other incidental and related duties as required and assigned.

Requirements

• Entry level position.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Minimum 2 years in a related field with familiarity with Water/Wastewater Treatment facilities preferred.
• Practices good safety habits.
• Works within special standards of accuracy.
• Follows oral directions and meets set standards.
• Thorough understanding of safety practices.
• Makes decisions based on verifiable standards.
• Takes pride in craftsmanship.
• Prioritizes to meet goals or deadlines.
• Must undergo E-Verify, background checks, and drug screens.
