About the role

Southern Industrial Constructors, Inc. performs installation, rigging, millwrighting, and maintenance for manufacturing and industrial markets across the Southeast. The company seeks a Millwright Helper for a project in Liberty, NC. Hired candidates will be considered for benefits and paid time off after three months.

Responsibilities

• Read blueprint and schematic drawings to determine work procedures.
• Dismantle machines using hammers, wrenches, crowbars, and other hand tools.
• Move machinery and equipment using hoists, dollies, rollers, and trucks.
• Construct foundations for machines using hand tools and building materials such as wood, cement, and steel.
• Align machines and equipment using hoists, jacks, hand tools, squares, rules, micrometers, and plumb bobs.
• Unload, inspect, and move equipment using rigging, hoisting devices, chain falls, hydraulic-lift trucks, or gantry overhead cranes.
• Understand load properties of cables, ropes, hoists, cranes and know all hand/crane signals.
• Fit bearings, align gears and wheels, attach motors, and connect belts according to manufacturer's blueprints and drawings.
• Perform precision leveling and alignment to measure angles, material thickness, and small distances with calipers, squares, micrometers, and other tools.
• Repair and lubricate machines and equipment.
• Work within precise limits or standards of accuracy.
• Lift and carry objects of varying weights.
• Detect, recognize, and respond to dangerous conditions or situations.
• Maintain regular attendance.
• Significant travel may be required.
• Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications

• Skilled in both written and verbal communication.
• Complete all safety and general job training as required by SIC.
• Observe SIC and customer safety and quality processes and procedures at all times.

Physical demands

• Must be able to effectively use all required PPE equipment and lift up to fifty pounds.
• Conditions include working in office, shop, busy traffic areas, warehouses, and undeveloped properties, with frequent exposure to dirt, dust, grease, oil, vibrations, and adverse weather conditions.
• Must be able to safely access all areas of property, buildings, structures, wharves, rooftops and other elevated positions, as well as confined spaces.
• Strenuous physical demands are required to safely perform the essential functions associated with this position.
• Must be able to safely operate all involved equipment and tools.
• Must be capable of standing for long periods of time, bending consistently, working in confined spaces with limited access, on ladders, in personnel lifts, in workboats, and working in awkward body positions.
