Millwright Heavy Overhaul Mechanic
About the role
The Centralized Mechanical Heavy Overhaul Teams function to provide Central Arizona Project (CAP) with internal expertise to maintain their large and geographically dispersed industrial mechanical systems. CAP is seeking a highly-skilled, highly-motivated industrial mechanic to provide journeyman-level technical expertise in the performance and support of this vital function.
Responsibilities
- Perform mechanical duties associated with the preventive maintenance, repair and overhaul of heavy industrial mechanical equipment utilized in pumping plants, generating stations, check structures, turnouts and other Central Arizona Project facilities.
- Ensure that equipment is safe, mechanically sound, and operating efficiently, in order to provide reliable water deliveries.
- Frequent in-state travel (Mondays – Thursdays) is part of the job.
Requirements
- A driver's license with a good driving record.
- A high school diploma or GED.
- Three or more years of related journeyman-level experience.
- If preferred, completion of a related state-approved apprenticeship.
- A strong working knowledge of hydro-electric generating and pumping systems, hydraulic systems and controls.
- Highly proficient in the safe use of proper tools and equipment for precision measuring and testing, fabricating, welding, calibrating, machinery alignment and leveling, reconditioning, maintaining, and repairing in an industrial mechanical environment.
- Well versed about industrial safety requirements including hazardous energy control protocols.
Qualifications
- Physical testing, functional testing, and drug screening may apply.
Skills
Strong working knowledge of hydro-electric generating and pumping systems, hydraulic systems and controls.
Highly proficient in the safe use of proper tools and equipment for precision measuring and testing, fabricating, welding, calibrating, machinery alignment and leveling, reconditioning, maintaining, and repairing in an industrial mechanical environment.
Well versed about industrial safety requirements including hazardous energy control protocols.
