About the role

Turner Industries is a fully diversified industrial contractor providing responsive, innovative solutions designed to increase plant production, reduce costs, reduce downtime, and prevent shutdowns. We serve the petrochemical, refining, energy, pulp and paper, and related industries. This non-exempt Millwright position in Kingsport, TN installs and/or maintains machinery and equipment according to layout plans, blueprints, drawings, and written instructions in industrial establishments. Reports to the Foreman; assigned duties follow specific procedures and work is checked frequently.

Responsibilities

• Read blueprints and schematic drawings to determine work procedures
• Dismantle machines
• Move machinery and equipment
• Assemble and install equipment, such as shafting, conveyors, pumps, compressors, extruders, turbines, and blowers
• Align machines and equipment using reverse alignment method
• Assemble machines and bolt, weld, rivet, or otherwise fasten them to foundation or other structures
• Operate engine lathe to grind, file, and turn machine parts to dimensional specifications
• Repair and lubricate machines and equipment
• Perform grouting activity for equipment base plates
• Remove plant equipment, disassemble, repair, and reinstall
• Perform additional assignments per supervisor's direction

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• One (1) to four (4) years of experience in specified skill (depending on mechanic level)
• Some job sites may require NCCER certification
• Post-offer drug/alcohol screen, physical evaluation, and signed acceptance of the Turner Industries Drug, Alcohol, and Contraband Policy
• Comply with company and client job site safety requirements
• Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of others in the workplace

Physical Involvement

• Climbing ladders, scaffolds, structures, etc. above and below ground level
• Maintaining balance on ladders, scaffolds, structures, etc.
• Reaching in all directions, handling and manipulating objects and materials
• Coordinating the movements of eyes, hands, and fingers to operate tools and equipment
• Lifting 30 to 50 pounds from ground level, waist level, and/or overhead
• Carrying objects, tools, equipment, etc.
• Standing, sitting, walking, pushing, pulling, bending, kneeling, crouching/squatting, crawling
• Seeing with or without correction; hearing with or without correction
