Focus: We are seeking an experienced Industrial Millwright or Mechanical Maintenance Technician to support the safe and reliable operation of plant equipment in both field and shop environments.
Responsibilities
- Install, inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain industrial mechanical equipment, HVAC systems, and commercial/industrial chillers.
- Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on pumps, compressors, gearboxes, motors, valves, piping, heat exchangers, cooling towers, evaporators, condensers, and associated equipment.
- Repair, rebuild, fabricate, test, and recondition plant machinery and mechanical components.
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, refrigeration, and control system failures using appropriate testing and diagnostic equipment.
- Perform refrigerant recovery, leak detection, evacuation, charging, and system performance testing.
- Interpret blueprints, mechanical drawings, piping schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
- Perform system startups, commissioning, operational testing, and equipment optimization.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, service reports, and equipment documentation.
- Collaborate with operations, engineers, contractors, and maintenance personnel to resolve equipment issues and improve system reliability.
- Recommend equipment repairs, upgrades, and energy efficiency improvements.
- Respond to emergency maintenance calls and support critical plant operations.
- Follow all company safety procedures including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), confined space entry, hot work, fall protection, PPE requirements, and safe refrigerant handling.
- Maintain compliance with EPA regulations, ASHRAE standards, environmental requirements, and company safety policies.
- Set up and operate drill presses, grinders, and other metalworking tools for making and repairing parts.
- Initiate orders for parts and machines.
- Operate welding equipment for cutting or welding parts.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; Technical training or Associate degree in HVAC/R, Mechanical Technology, Industrial Maintenance, or related field preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of industrial mechanical maintenance or millwright experience combined with commercial HVAC or chiller service experience.
- EPA Section 608 Universal Certification required for HVAC/chiller work.
- Strong knowledge of industrial mechanical systems, refrigeration cycles, pumps, compressors, motors, bearings, valves, piping, and rotating equipment.
- Experience servicing centrifugal, screw, scroll, absorption, or magnetic-bearing chillers is preferred.
- Must be able to work call-ins and overtime when support is needed.
- Able to pass a functional physical testing and able to use standard safety equipment; must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Able to climb ladders/stairs and work at heights.
- Able to work in tight or closed-in spaces.
- Pass a physical, drug screen and background check if job offer is received and accepted.
- Must be able to obtain a TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) and possess a valid US driver's license.
Skills
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills.
- Experience working with rotating equipment, refrigeration systems, pumps, compressors, piping, and industrial machinery.
Preferred Certifications
- Journeyman Millwright
- NATE Certification
- HVAC Excellence Certification
- OEM certifications (Trane, Carrier, York, Daikin, Smardt, or equivalent)
