Millwright Apprentice - Dillard Lumber

About the role

This position is part of Roseburg Forest Products’ industrial maintenance team, responsible for ensuring the reliability and safety of heavy equipment across our integrated manufacturing operations.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and preventative maintenance on industrial machinery and equipment
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
• Read blueprints and interpret complex work instructions and documentation
• Conduct bearing, coupling, belt, sprocket, and chain drive installations
• Execute metal fabrication tasks and cylinder repairs
• Apply MIG, TIG, and Arc welding as needed
• Keep accurate records and documentation using computers
• Observe and enforce all safety rules and regulations

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• Willing and able to work overtime, weekends, on-call, rotating shifts, and holidays
• Experience reading blueprints and using precision measurement tools
• Experience troubleshooting industrial equipment
• Ability to use a computer for record keeping and documentation
• Physical ability to perform essential functions: climbing stairs, navigating catwalks and ladders, lifting up to 50 pounds, stooping and bending, working in extreme heat/cold
• Effective communication and comprehension of complex instructions
• Basic trade skills in industrial equipment repair and preventative maintenance
• Machinist training and experience
• Stable employment history with at least two years of industrial maintenance experience OR equivalent vocational/technical education
• Personal and total commitment to safety rules and regulations
• Knowledge of bearing installation, coupling, belts, sprockets and chain drives
• Knowledge of pneumatic and hydraulic systems
• Basic knowledge of metal fabrication and cylinder repair
• Working knowledge of basic industrial electricity issues
• Alignment with Roseburg’s core values

Preferred Qualifications

• Vocational or technical school certificate in a related field
• Prior employment in a manufacturing environment
• Prior employment in a plywood or veneer manufacturing facility
• Experience with a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
• Knowledge of fire protection systems
• Proficiency with hand and power tools and precision measuring/test instruments
• Experience with pneumatic, hydraulic, and conveyor systems
• Strong root cause analysis skills
• Team-oriented approach and willingness to learn new jobs and skills
