Millwright Apprentice

About the Role

Under the supervision of the Millwright Foreman, the Millwright Apprentice will assemble, install, repair, dismantle, or move a variety of equipment and piping, including water, sanitary, gas, process, or chemical feed systems.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to and promote all Company Safety Policies and the Company Code of Conduct.
• Align machines and equipment using hoists, jacks, hand tools, squares, rules, micrometers, and other tools under the supervision of the Millwright Foreman.
• Dismantle machines using hammers, wrenches, crowbars, and other hand tools under the supervision of the Millwright Foreman.
• Move machinery and equipment using hoists, dollies, rollers, cranes, trucks, and other equipment.
• Work harmoniously, cooperatively, and courteously with others at all times.
• Read blueprints and schematic drawings to determine work procedures.
• Demonstrate a willingness to accept responsibility, be reliable, and work with a sense of urgency.
• Cut, thread, bend, and assemble PVC, copper, black iron, ductile iron, or other materials using hacksaws, pipe-cutters, hammers and chisels, cutting torches, and pipe-cut machines.
• Join pipe by means of threading, plastic solvent, soldering, brazing, fusing, or cementing joints.
• Cut openings in walls and floors to accommodate pipe and secure pipe to structures with clamps, brackets, and hangers using hand or power tools.
• Be willing to respond to emergency situations after hours or occasionally work out of town.
• Perform other miscellaneous duties and responsibilities as required.

Requirements

• Apprenticeship training in a skilled mechanical trade preferred.
• Experience in millwrighting, pipefitting, industrial maintenance, welding, or heavy industrial construction is highly desirable.
• High School or Vocational High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum 3 years' experience in mechanical construction trades.
• OSHA 10 Construction Certification, or ability to obtain during pre-employment (company provided online training).
• Obtain and maintain a DOT medical card and pass pre-employment drug screen, driving record review, and criminal background check.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a valid unrestricted U.S. Driver's License.
