Millwork Crew Leader
About the role
Crew Leaders perform daily activities for a millwork facility, including distribution-related functions such as receiving, storing, and shipping/building of loads. You will operate a forklift, ensure loads match orders prior to vehicle exit, and perform customer service activities. This role requires broad knowledge of building material products and warehouse operations, and may involve training, assigning, and overseeing the work of others to ensure tasks are completed to order specifications. You will help plan daily workflow, maintain inventory, and uphold safety and quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Operate forklift and perform distribution-related functions (receiving, storing, and shipping/building loads).
- Ensure load matches order prior to vehicle exiting the yard.
- Perform customer service activities.
- Train, assign, and oversee work of others; ensure work is complete and built to order specifications.
- Perform fundamental mathematical calculations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
- Manage raw materials and finished goods inventory; handle materials order replenishment.
- Maintain good housekeeping in the work area.
- Follow safety programs and ensure compliance with OSHA regulations.
- Demonstrate commitment to safety, quality, environmental awareness, and continuous process improvement.
- Plan daily workflow and perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma, GED, or two (2) years of equivalent work experience.
- Ability to understand and communicate safety and work-related instructions.
- Work in a warehouse/yard operations environment with considerable physical exertion and in all weather conditions.
Qualifications
Preferred:
- More than five (5) years of experience in a related job function.
- Technical certification or associate degree may be required.
- In-depth knowledge of building materials products, warehouse operations, and/or BMD products/operations.
- Proficiency in fundamental mathematical calculations, including fractions and linear measurement.
- Strong personal interaction and supervisory skills.
