Mill Operator

Essential Functions

• Haul product from pit to mill (truck to loader)
• Absorb commodities and determine moisture content
• Closely monitor roll corrugation to ensure flake quality and production output
• Participate in all aspects of the feed milling operation
• Prepare production records
• Maintain general housekeeping in and around the mill area
• Perform and/or assist in preventative maintenance and repair of mill equipment
• Comply with all ISO/HACCP and OSHA/Safety procedures, rules, and regulations

Competencies

• Adequate verbal and written communication skills
• Adequate mathematical skills: Ability to add and subtract, multiply and divide numbers
• Knowledge of cattle feedlot industry highly desirable
• Willingness to work non-traditional hours as required
• Able to work with a team, or individually
• Ability to communicate in English is preferred, not required
• Able to prioritize tasks when appropriate

Work Environment

• Required to work at times in extreme weather conditions, such as rain, snow, wind, heat, cold
• May be required to work nights on occasions, weekends, and holidays as schedule requires
• May be exposed to airborne particles and frequent working near moving mechanical parts

Physical Demands

• Ability to stand for long periods of time
• Ability to work extended hours 10-11 hours per day
• This individual must be able to occasionally lift a minimum of 50 lbs

Required Education And Experience

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
• 1-3 months’ related experience and/or training
• Equivalent combination of education and experience

• Equivalent combination of education and experience

Experience

• Experience working with feed mills preferred
• Mechanical experience highly desirable
