About the role

Reporting to the General Supervisor Mill Maintenance, the Maintenance Supervisor is accountable for planning, scheduling and coordinating maintenance activities.

Responsibilities

  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
  • Through effective communication with crew members identify potential safety issues, and personally follow through with corrective action in a timely manner and communicate progress to crew members. This includes timely follow up with safety meeting minutes and Supervisor Incident Reports (SIR’s)
  • Minimize disruptions to operations by responding quickly with available manpower and equipment
  • Set and monitor performance targets
  • Assist in the development of NANA shareholders and the administration of the Apprenticeship Program by taking a personal interest in mentorship
  • Administer company policy, be involved in employee selection, promotions, and discharge
  • Provide input to the operating budget and participate in the cost and variance
  • Effective communication with the crew and other management staff is of paramount importance, and it is the sole responsibility of the Supervisor to ensure the feedback to employees is effective
  • The incumbent is a part of a maintenance team and cannot work in isolation from other groups, and will continually strive to maximize the effectiveness of the organization
  • May be required to fill in at other positions as required
  • Is aware of the “whistle blower policy” and has signed off on and will adhere to the “company’s code of ethics”
  • Support and initiation of continuous improvement initiatives, incident investigations, RCA’s and 5 Why Reviews
  • A high degree of focus is required with regards to clean up and site improvements in the incumbent’s area of responsibility
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Journeyperson Millwright with a minimum seven (7) years’ experience in a heavy industrial environment
  • One (1) year of lead-hand Supervisory experience
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, particularly spreadsheet, word processing and presentation applications
  • Effectively communicate with the crew and all levels of management and ensure continual feedback
  • A team player, working closely with both operating and other maintenance staff and will continually strive to maximize the effectiveness of the organization
  • Ensure ongoing development of all employees with a high focus on the apprenticeship program
  • Have a working knowledge of MSHA Standards
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and decision-making abilities
  • Proven and exemplary leadership skills

Schedule

Three-weeks on / three-weeks off rotational schedule to support a healthy work-life balance.
