Job Responsibilities
- Lead daily shift activities by assigning tasks, organizing crews, and ensuring operational readiness across milling and flotation circuits.
- Supervise and support mill operations including jaw crushers, cone crushers, grinding circuits, flotation, filter presses, and tailings management.
- Promote and enforce a strong safety culture by conducting safety meetings, addressing hazards, and ensuring compliance with all safety regulations and procedures.
- Monitor plant performance and production metrics, making real-time decisions to optimize throughput, recovery, and concentrate quality.
- Troubleshoot operational and equipment issues, coordinating with maintenance teams to minimize downtime and ensure timely repairs.
- Communicate effectively with crew members, listening to concerns, providing direction, and fostering a collaborative team environment.
- Apply critical thinking and sound judgment to resolve challenges while adhering to company policies and operational guidelines.
- Maintain accurate shift reports, production data, and logs using basic MS Office tools and plant systems.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on efficiency, reliability, and operational excellence.
- Lead by example—demonstrating professionalism, accountability, and strong work ethic on the floor.
Qualifications
- Minimum 10+ years of mining experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership or supervisory role is preferred.
- Strong working knowledge of copper (preferred) or other base metal milling processes, including crushing, grinding, flotation, and tailings systems.
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to motivate teams, manage conflict, and drive performance.
- Solid understanding of safety practices and a demonstrated commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities in a fast-paced, dynamic setting.
- Effective communication skills, with the ability to engage crews and coordinate across departments.
- Reliable, dependable, and decisive, with the ability to balance operational demands and long-term objectives.
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office and production reporting tools.
- Physically capable of working in a demanding mining environment.
