Position Summary
As a Protection and Control (P&C) Engineering Specialist, you’ll learn and gain hands-on experience installing, testing, troubleshooting, maintaining and analyzing the performance of protection and control equipment, supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems and associated communication devices while providing leadership and guidance to other P&C Engineering Specialists to ensure proper operation of system protection relaying schemes and SCADA systems to eliminate or limit damage, prevent the spread of system disturbances, reduce the number and duration of customer outages, and to minimize the probability of an ultimate cascading electrical system blackout.
Key Responsibilities
- Installs protection and control facilities, modifies designs as needed, tests and calibrates protection and SCADA equipment, and provides direction for the technical aspects of substation construction projects in transmission switching stations, load serving substations, generation switchyards, and interconnection facilities with other companies to ensure that the appropriate protection and control facilities are installed safely without adversely affecting electric service.
