Military Fellowship Program: Systems Security Engineer
About the role
The Systems Security Engineer role within the ISR (Intelligence, Surveillance & Reconnaissance), Aviation, and Security (IAS) business area at Sierra Nevada Corporation (SNC) involves designing, testing, and implementing secure operating systems, networks, security monitoring, and tuning. Responsibilities include managing IT security systems and applications, conducting incident response, digital forensics, loss prevention, and eDiscovery actions, performing risk and vulnerability assessments, and developing and implementing security controls. Additionally, the role requires researching, evaluating, and recommending new security tools, techniques, and technologies aligned with the IT security strategy.
Responsibilities
- Design, test, and implement secure operating systems, networks, security monitoring, and tuning
- Manage IT security systems and applications, conduct incident response, digital forensics, loss prevention, and eDiscovery actions
- Perform risk and vulnerability assessments and develop/implement security controls
- Research, evaluate, and recommend new security tools, techniques, and technologies in alignment with the IT security strategy
- Conduct digital forensics and loss prevention activities

Requirements
- Currently serving as active duty military and eligible to participate in the DoD SkillBridge program
- Bachelor's degree in Systems Security, Network Engineering, Information Technology, or related Engineering discipline and typically 2+ years of relevant experience
- Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of required education
Qualifications
- Preferred certifications: ISSM CAP, CISSP, CISM, ISSE CAP, CISSP-ISSEP, Security+, CISA, CASP+
- Preferred certifications: MCSE, Linux, CCNP Security

Estimated Starting Salary Range: $85,768.30 - $117,931.40. Compensation varies depending on a wide array of factors, including candidates' key skills, relevant work experience, and education/training/certifications.
