About the role

SNC's Military Fellowship Program partners with programs such as SkillBridge and Hiring Our Heroes to provide fellowship opportunities to service members transitioning to the civilian workforce. These fellowships include up to six months of on-the-job industry training for eligible service members. During this time, participants gain valuable work experience in the civilian sector and build professional networks as they prepare for their transition to full-time civilian work.

Responsibilities

  • Currently serving as ACTIVE DUTY military and be eligible to participate in the DoD Skillbridge Program.
  • Conduct advanced maintenance and repair tasks on aerospace and defense systems.
  • Lead the installation and commissioning of equipment, ensuring adherence to specifications.
  • Troubleshoot complex technical issues and collaborate with engineering teams for resolution.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to junior field service technicians.
  • Deliver detailed training sessions to customers on equipment operation and maintenance.
  • Maintain and update comprehensive records of maintenance activities and equipment status.
  • Ensure all fieldwork complies with safety standards and regulations.
  • Manage and track inventory of spare parts, tools, and equipment.
  • Produce detailed technical reports for internal and customer review.
  • Travel to customer sites as necessary, including potential international locations.

Qualifications

  • You Must Have:
  • A high school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • 1+ years of experience as a technician or in a related field.
  • A higher level relevant degree may substitute for experience.
  • A basic understanding of technical schematics, diagrams, blueprints, manuals, and/or publications.
  • Experience using troubleshooting techniques.
  • An understanding of electrical wiring concepts.
  • The ability to frequently travel outside the continental US, typically for extended periods of time.
  • The ability to deploy for an extended amount of time to various OCONUS operating locations.
  • The ability to meet current DoD and Combatant Command requirements for deployed locations.
  • Successfully pass a pre-deployment medical assessment.
  • The ability to be willing and able to work extended hours, holidays and shift schedules as required.
  • A current/valid passport and be able to obtain a visa to travel internationally.
  • We Prefer:
  • An associate's degree in a related field of study.
  • Experience with FCC or FCC General Radio Operator License (GROL).
  • Prior experience with Security+, Network+, Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), and/or A+.
  • A basic understanding of Spectrometer, Oscilloscope, and/or Pitot Static equipment gauges.
  • A background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry, the US Department of Defense, or US Military.
  • Experience with software and firmware updates for technical equipment.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.

Essential Functions

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during the work shift.
  • Hand and finger dexterity to work with small mechanical components and tools.
  • Ability to work in a noisy environment with potential exposure to hazardous materials.
  • Ability to travel frequently to customer locations, sometimes on short notice.
  • Ability to work in a combination of office and field environments.
  • Ability to read detailed technical manuals, schematics, and computer screens.
  • Ability to inspect and troubleshoot equipment and systems accurately.
  • Ability to hear and understand spoken communication in noisy environments, such as industrial sites or construction areas.
  • Ability to detect auditory signals from machinery or equipment, which may indicate issues.
  • Ability to navigate various work environments, including climbing ladders, crawling in confined spaces, and working at heights.
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and adhere to safety protocols.
  • Strong awareness of safety protocols and ability to adhere to safety guidelines in potentially hazardous environments.
  • Ability to identify and mitigate potential safety hazards.
