MILITARY DOD SKILLBRIDGE Biomedical Technician

The Military DoD SkillBridge program offers Service members valuable civilian work experience through industry training, apprenticeships, or internships during the last 180 days of service. SkillBridge connects Service members with industry partners for real-world job experiences under Dept. of Defense Instruction 1322.29. Separating Service members can receive up to 180 days of permissive duty to train full-time with approved partners after unit commander approval. GE HealthCare provides real-world training in in-demand fields while evaluating suitability for the work. Participants are not eligible for compensation from GE HealthCare, as they continue to receive military compensation and benefits.
Responsibilities
- Under supervision, evaluate basic customer biomedical equipment issues and implement appropriate repairs.
- Perform planned maintenance (PM), safety, and environmental inspections as assigned, while maintaining effective customer relations.
- Follow GE policies, procedures, and hospital protocols; complete necessary documentation as guided.
- Maintain daily communications with customers to ensure resolution and proper follow-up, leading to customer satisfaction.
- Implement GE/customer facility contracts as instructed, supporting business goals and objectives.
- Assist more experienced technicians on progressive repairs and resolution.
- Work as a member of a local team to provide efficient service delivery to all accounts within the assigned area.
- Document all repair actions and submit reports/summaries according to schedule.
- Maintain approved parts inventory and manage vendor service delivery processes in compliance with GE policies.
- Ensure proper care of spares, tools, and test equipment, including calibration.
- Enhance and maintain technical knowledge of current standards, codes, and procedures regarding safe and effective use of medical equipment.
- Meet Health and Human Services and Environment Health and Safety requirements.
- Complete all planned Quality and Compliance training within defined deadlines.
- Identify and report any customer quality or compliance concerns immediately to the Quality Organization.
- Comply with the GEHC Quality Manual, Quality Management System, Quality Management Policy, Quality Goals, and applicable laws and regulations.
Requirements
- Active Military Personnel.
- Ability to develop and maintain good customer relationships.
- Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license.
Special Physical Requirements
- Must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 35 lbs. unassisted.
- Frequent bending, stooping, twisting, climbing, crouching/squatting, kneeling/crawling, and sitting/standing for long periods.
- Ability to reach at, above, and below shoulder level, flex/extend neck, and good hand/finger dexterity.
- Specific vision abilities required: color vision, close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
- May not relocate more than 30 miles from current location without manager approval.
Desired Characteristics
- Previous experience or coursework interpreting schematic diagrams and troubleshooting/planned maintenance on biomedical, diagnostic imaging, or electronic equipment.
- Analytical and communication skills to explain technical issues clearly to customers.
- Experience interfacing with internal team members and external customers in a solution-based service process.
