MILITARY DOD SKILLBRIDGE Biomedical Technician

About the role

The Military DoD SkillBridge program at GE Healthcare offers Service members the opportunity to gain valuable civilian work experience through specific industry training, apprenticeships, or internships during their last 180 days of service. This program connects Service members with industry partners like GE Healthcare, providing real-world job experiences and evaluating the suitability of Service members for civilian roles.

Essential Responsibilities

• Evaluate basic customer biomedical equipment issues and implement appropriate repairs.
• Perform planned maintenance (PM), safety, and environmental inspections.
• Maintain effective customer relations and daily communications.
• Implement GE/customer facility contracts, supporting business goals and objectives.
• Assist more experienced technicians on progressive repairs and resolutions.
• Work as a member of a local team to provide efficient service delivery to all accounts within assigned areas.
• Document all repair actions and submit reports/summaries according to schedule.
• Maintain approved parts inventory and manage vendor's service delivery processes in compliance with GE policies.
• Ensure proper care of spares, tools, and test equipment and ensure calibration.
• Enhance and maintain technical knowledge of current standards, codes, and procedures regarding safe and effective use of medical equipment.
• Meet Health and Human Services, as well as Environment Health and Safety requirements.

Qualifications/Requirements

• Active Military Personnel: Must be able to develop and maintain good customer relationships, have reliable transportation, and possess a valid driver's license.
• Physical Requirements: Candidate must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 35 lbs. unassisted, frequently bend, stoop, twist, climb, crouch/squat, kneel/crawl, sit, and stand for long periods of time. Must also have good hand and finger dexterity, color vision, close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.

Desired Characteristics

• Previous experience and/or course work in interpreting schematic diagrams and performing troubleshooting and planned maintenance on basic biomedical, diagnostic imaging, or electronic equipment.
• Ability to develop and maintain good customer relations and communicate technical issues to customers in an easy-to-understand manner.
• Experience interfacing with both internal team members and external customers as part of a solution-based service process.
