About the role
The Military DoD SkillBridge program at GE Healthcare offers active military personnel the opportunity to gain valuable civilian work experience through specific industry training, apprenticeships, or internships during their last 180 days of service. This program connects Service members with industry partners like GE Healthcare, providing real-world job experiences under Department of Defense Instruction 1322.29.
Essential Responsibilities
- Evaluate basic customer biomedical equipment issues and implement appropriate repairs.
- Perform planned maintenance (PM), safety, and environmental inspections as assigned.
- Maintain effective customer relations and communicate regularly with customers to ensure resolution and proper follow-up.
- Support business goals and objectives by implementing GE/customer facility contracts.
- Aid more experienced technicians on progressive repairs and resolution tasks.
- Work as a member of a local team to provide efficient service delivery to all accounts within assigned areas.
- Document all repair actions and submit reports/summaries according to schedule.
- Maintain approved parts inventory and manage vendor's service delivery processes in compliance with GE policies.
- Ensure proper care of spares, tools, and test equipment and ensure calibration.
- Enhance and maintain technical knowledge of current standards, codes, and procedures regarding safe and effective use of medical equipment.
- Meet Health and Human Services, as well as Environmental Health and Safety requirements.
Qualifications/Requirements
- Active Military Personnel: Must be able to develop and maintain good customer relationships.
- Physical Requirements: Candidate must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 35 lbs. unassisted and frequently bend, stoop, twist, climb, crouch/squat, kneel/crawl, sit and stand for long periods of time. Must also have good hand and finger dexterity.
- Specific Vision Abilities: Color, close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
- Training Completion: Complete all planned Quality and Compliance training within defined deadlines.
- Customer Quality Reporting: Identify and report any and all customer quality or compliance concerns immediately to the Quality Organization.
- Compliance Awareness: Comply with the GEHC Quality Manual, Quality Management System, Quality Management Policy, Quality Goals, and applicable laws and regulations.
Desired Characteristics
- Previous experience and/or course work in interpreting schematic diagrams and performing troubleshooting and planned maintenance on basic biomedical, diagnostic imaging, or electronic equipment.
- Ability to develop and maintain good customer relations.
- Analytical and communication skills to communicate technical issues to customers in an easy-to-understand manner.
- Experience interfacing with both internal team members and external customers as part of a solution-based service process.
