Milieu Supervisor - Day Shift (East)

About the Role
The Milieu Supervisor is responsible for the supervision and safety of patients by Mental Health Technicians or Certified Nursing Assistants on designated units. This role creates a safe environment for patients, provides crisis intervention, and promotes involvement in individual/family education groups. The Milieu Supervisor provides direct patient care under the supervision of the registered nurse and works with all Nursing staff to ensure Special Behavioral Treatment Plans are carried out as written by the treatment team.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and ensure the safety of patients on designated units.
- Provide crisis intervention and promote involvement in individual/family education groups.
- Deliver direct patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse.
- Ensure Special Behavioral Treatment Plans are implemented as written by the treatment team.
- Take proactive steps to prevent crises on the units when warning signs become evident.
- Adopt a coach-to-team approach for problem-solving on the units.
- Identify team members needing additional training in therapeutic techniques/skills and provide oversight to improve such skills.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Special Education, Psychology, or a related field (preferred).
- 3–5 years of experience in a hospital or healthcare setting (required).
- Knowledge of psychiatric group processes, therapeutic relationships, age-specific growth and development, limit setting, behavior management, crisis management with aggressive behaviors, and CPR training.
