Milieu Counselor Float - Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Full time, D/E

About the role

The Float Milieu Counselor provides care under the direction of the Registered Nurse. Members of the float pool are deployed on a shift-by-shift basis to provide care to patients throughout each of the inpatient psychiatric units at the Somerville campus.

Responsibilities

• Provides care under the direction of the Registered Nurse
• Assists with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs)
• Leads or co-leads therapeutic groups
• Performs safety checks
• Attends to the individual needs of patients in crisis in an inpatient psychiatric setting
• Accurately charts patients' Blood Pressure (BP), Temperature, Pulse Rate (TPR), and Weight
• Notifies the Registered Nurse of any changes in vital signs
• Accurately measures and documents patient intake and output
• Assists patients with ADLs, maintaining nutritional and hydration needs
• Maintains a safe and structured service as a member of the multidisciplinary team

Requirements

• High school diploma required; B.A., B.S., or M.A. preferred or equivalent years of human service experience
• Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Prior inpatient human services, behavioral, or psychiatric experience is strongly preferred
• Neurodevelopment experience strongly preferred
• All newly hired candidates must successfully complete a job-specific physical test

Qualifications/Experience

Benefits

Cambridge Health Alliance (CHA) offers a $5,000 sign-on bonus for all Milieu Counselor positions that are 32-40 hours per week.

Pay

$22.20 - $65.80 per hour

Schedule

8 hour shifts, with weekend rotation and holidays as assigned
