The Milieu Counselor position at Cahill 3 Adult Psychiatric Nursing at Cambridge Hospital is a 32 hours per week role. Cambridge Health Alliance offers a $5,000 sign-on bonus for this position.

About the role

The Milieu Counselor is a member of the multidisciplinary team responsible for a safe and structured service, assisting with ADLs, leading or co-leading therapeutic groups, performing safety checks, and conducting 1:1 meetings with patients. Other responsibilities include accurately charting vital signs, documenting intake and output, and managing patients' nutritional and hydration needs.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs)
  • Lead or co-lead therapeutic groups
  • Perform safety checks
  • Conduct 1:1 meetings with patients
  • Accurately chart patients' Blood Pressure (BP), Temperature, Pulse Rate (TPR), and weight
  • Measure and document patient's intake and output
  • Maintain patients' nutritional and hydration needs
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by the Charge RN

Requirements

  • High school diploma required; B.A., B.S., or M.A. preferred or equivalent years of human service experience
  • Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Prior human services, behavioral, or psychiatric experience strongly preferred
  • Inpatient psychiatric experience is preferred
  • All newly hired candidates must successfully complete a job-specific physical test

Schedule

The schedule is Monday through Friday, with a rotating weekend shift and holidays as assigned: 7am-3:30pm and 3pm-11:30pm, totaling 32 hours per week.
