About the role

A Mig Welder at Lennox AES in Tallassee, AL is a skilled position responsible for precision welding tasks using galvanized steel, aluminum, and other materials. The role involves interpreting blueprints, ensuring product quality, and contributing to the fabrication of roof curbs, drop boxes, and related products.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate custom and standard products from blueprints with high attention to detail and efficiency.
• Communicate with shop manager and engineering on product issues and assist with streamlining production methods.
• MIG weld 10-to-20-gauge galvanized steel for adapters, curbs, and other products.
• Conduct visual inspections of welded components to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications.
• Collaborate with engineers, fabricators, and team members to ensure efficient workflow and project completion.
• Perform spot welding of metal components under direct supervision.

Requirements

• Familiarity with safe welding practices.
• Ability to learn to read fabrication drawings with instruction.
• Capable of welding 10-to-20-gauge galvanized steel (training available).
• Physically able to load fabrication parts onto the weld table.
• Blueprint reading and interpretation skills.
• Self-starter requiring minimal daily guidance.
• Quality-oriented with strong attention to detail.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, tape measures, and diagrams.
• Working knowledge of MIG welding machines, including preventive maintenance and control settings for maximum efficiency.
• Able to move objects weighing up to 75 pounds.
• High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 1 year of previous MIG welding experience.
• Positive attitude and ability to work in a team setting.
• Basic understanding of safety protocols in a manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• Preferred: Trade school or certification in welding.

Pay

This is an hourly non-exempt role with a starting pay range of $19.50/hour. Factors affecting starting pay include geography/market, skills, education, experience, and other qualifications. Overtime is available when working more than 40 hours per week (or as required by state law).
