MIG Welder

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform welding tasks using different techniques such as MIG (Metal Inert Gas), to join or repair metal components.
  • Interpret and follow technical drawings, blueprints, and welding symbols to ensure accurate and precise fabrication.
  • Set up and operate welding equipment, including selecting proper welding tools, gases, and wire or electrode materials.
  • Clean, prepare, and arrange metal surfaces to be welded, removing any impurities or contaminants.
  • Inspect materials for defects and ensure they meet required specifications before starting the welding process.
  • Conduct welding tests to assess the quality of welds and make necessary adjustments to achieve optimal results.
  • Maintain welding equipment by performing regular maintenance and repairs.
  • Follow safety guidelines and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Collaborate with other team members to ensure efficient workflow and timely completion of projects.
  • Monitor inventory of welding materials and report any shortages or needed supplies to the supervisor.
  • Adhere to company policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.

Preferred qualifications

  • Candidate must have some or all the following Educational/Technical requirements:
  • A high school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in Welding.
  • Proven experience as a Welder or similar role in metal fabrication.
  • Familiarity with reading technical drawings and blueprints.
  • Must be familiar with Machines and the use of tips, nozzles and other machine issues.
  • Ability to operate and maintain welding equipment effectively.

Preferred skills and abilities

  • Strong attention to detail and precision in workmanship.
  • Physical stamina and the ability to work in various positions, including standing, kneeling, and bending for extended periods.
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
  • Knowledge of safety protocols and the ability to adhere to safety standards.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot welding issues.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team.
