MIG and TIG Fabrication Welder

About the role

Sacoma Specialty Products is looking for a skilled, hands-on MIG/TIG Welder to join our manufacturing team. This position is ideal for an experienced welder who takes pride in producing high-quality work, can confidently read and work from blueprints, and is comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. While this position performs both MIG and TIG welding, strong TIG welding skills are especially important for this role. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience producing clean, precise welds, working with a variety of materials and part configurations, and consistently meeting quality and dimensional requirements.

Responsibilities

• Receives instructions, prints, and work orders for the job
• Plans details of working procedures and tools and material requirements
• Cleans and prepares surfaces to be welded
• MIG & TIG weld with no defects
• Fit and weld assemblies per job instructions and drawings
• Builds up worn or defective surfaces
• Properly use fabrication shop hand tools (grinders, drills, air grinders, etc)
• Keeps equipment and work area clean and orderly
• Monitors supplies (gas, weld tips and grinding disks)
• Perform necessary quality inspections to ensure that parts meet guidelines
• Conduct operations in a manner that promote safety. Comply with OSHA and MDSD Standards

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• AWS Certification desired
• 2+ years previous welding experience in a manufacturing environment
• Ability to MIG & TIG weld – mild steel and 439 & 304 stainless steel
• Must be able to adjust the welder in order to get a quality weld
• Ability to read blueprints
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team
• Analytical and problem solving skills
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing concepts desired
• Compliance with all health and safety regulations, policies and procedures
• Attention to detail
• Willingness and ability to work overtime
