About the role
The Regional Midwife Director provides strategic, clinical, and operational leadership for the midwifery practice serving Vassar Brothers Medical Center as well as ambulatory clinical sites in Poughkeepsie, Fishkill, and Highland.
This role is responsible for the oversight, mentorship, and performance management of site-based midwives, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based, patient-centered maternity and gynecologic care across the region.
Responsibilities
- Oversee and mentor a team of 7 midwives providing full-scope midwifery care in the office and in the hospital alongside 2 full-time outpatient only midwives.
- Collaborate with site physician and nursing leaders, hospital administration, and the system women’s health leadership team to support alignment of clinical standards, staffing models, quality initiatives, and professional practice across sites.
- Maintain an active clinical presence while functioning as 0.8 clinical and 0.2 administrative FTE with an anticipated schedule of one 24-hour in-house call shift and one 8-hour clinical office day per week.
Requirements
- Prior experience as a Midwife Director, Lead Midwife, or equivalent leadership role.
- Experience in multi-site or regional program leadership.
- Experience with quality improvement, safety initiatives, and interdisciplinary care models.
Qualifications
- Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) or Certified Midwife (CM) with current New York State licensure.

Benefits
