Job Responsibilities
Peer Mentors facilitate student involvement in clubs, campus events, and recreational activities. They provide one-on-one and/or small group support in the development/refinement of social communication skills. They support students in navigating campus and community resources and document student progress towards social and/or independent living goals. Peer Mentors meet weekly with their supervisor to discuss student progress.
Minimum And Additional Requirements
- Able to communicate effectively
- Interest in working with students with intellectual and developmental disabilities
- Strong teamwork and problem-solving skills
- Student at Midlands Technical College
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities
