Middle School Volleyball Coach

About the role

The middle school volleyball coach implements the sports program in accordance with district, board, and OSAA policies. They collaborate with other coaches and staff, adhere to athletic oversight guidelines, and uphold state and district rules of conduct. The coach is responsible for conducting practices, motivating students, and instructing athletes in game strategies and techniques while fostering physical skills, self-worth, sportsmanship, and academic achievement.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to policies of the Board of Education, district practices, OSAA, and the League.
• Attend all meetings scheduled by administration, athletic director, and league.
• Aid the athletic director in maintaining student eligibility forms, emergency data cards, and related records.
• Organize and direct practice activities, exercises, and game strategy.
• Assess players' skills and provide active supervision during practices, games, locker rooms, and transportation.
• Provide firm, fair, and consistent discipline; report serious infractions to the athletic director.
• Model and promote good sportsmanship and competitive attitude.
• Recognize and address team and individual strengths and weaknesses in a positive, respectful manner.
• Maintain professional conduct during events and practices.
• Emphasize the importance of academic achievement for student athletes.
• Complete injury reports within 24 hours of athlete injuries during practices or competitions.
• Foster positive school-community relations through communication with students, parents, and media.
• Publicize the sport and encourage student participation through personal contact.
• Ensure proper use, care, and management of facilities and equipment.
• Follow safe procedures to prevent and care for injuries; apply knowledge of emergency first aid.
• Demonstrate understanding of current OSAA rules and regulations.
• Stay updated on coaching developments, techniques, and innovations through clinics, workshops, and reading.
• Ensure security of activity areas and building keys.
• Maintain reliable and dependable attendance.

Requirements

• Ability to organize and supervise students.
• Currently certified in first-aid/CPR or willingness to gain certification.
• Knowledge of volleyball and ability to teach the sport to students.
• Ability to foster positive human relations.
• Pass OSAA certifications.

Pay

$2,360.00 stipend.
