Middle School Special Education Teacher

Responsibilities

• Teach students with special needs according to curriculum and standards.
• Collaborate with other special education teachers and related service providers to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs).
• Assess student progress and adjust instruction accordingly.
• Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and knowledge.
• Work collaboratively with families to support student learning and development.

Requirements

• BA/BS from an accredited college or university.
• Valid Colorado teaching license endorsed in area of assignment: Special Education Generalist.
• Completion of Colorado READ Act training requirements.

Qualifications

• Experience in special education is preferred but not required.
• Ability to work effectively with diverse student populations.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Skills

• Knowledge of special education laws and regulations.
• Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet the needs of diverse learners.
• Proficiency in using technology to enhance teaching and learning.

Pay

• The minimum starting pay is $50,500/year and the maximum salary is $101,999/year.
• Initial pay placement is dependent on level of formal education and years of relevant experience.

Schedule

• 182 contracted work days.
