Academies of Math and Science – Nellis Campus Middle School Science Teacher Location: 1780 Betty Ln, Las Vegas, NV 89156 Start Date: 2026–2027 School Year Compensation Range: $54,000 – $60,813 annually (DOE) Position Overview Academies of Math and Science (AMS) is a network of high-performing K–8 public charter schools committed to academic excellence, college readiness, and equitable access to high-quality education for students in historically underserved communities. AMS is seeking a passionate and data-driven Middle School Science Teacher to deliver rigorous, standards-aligned instruction that develops students’ scientific reasoning, critical thinking, problem-solving, and inquiry skills. AMS teachers are collaborative professionals who believe all scholars can achieve at high levels through structured instruction, strong classroom culture, hands-on learning, and consistent use of data to inform instruction. The ideal candidate is committed to supporting students in Title I communities while maintaining high academic expectations and creating a positive, engaging, and inquiry-based classroom environment. Key Responsibilities Instruction & Student Achievement Deliver rigorous, standards-aligned science instruction aligned with AMS curriculum frameworksDevelop students’ scientific reasoning, critical thinking, problem-solving, and inquiry skillsIncorporate hands-on investigations, experiments, and real-world applications of scientific conceptsDifferentiate instruction to support students performing above and below grade levelUse formative and summative assessment data to guide instructional planning and targeted interventionsPrepare students for grade-level standards and assessments through engaging and purposeful instruction Classroom Culture & Student Support Establish and maintain a structured, positive, and high-expectations classroom environmentImplement PBIS and preventative intervention strategiesMaintain a safe and organized environment for laboratory activities and hands-on learningSupport students’ academic, behavioral, and social-emotional developmentEncourage curiosity, collaboration, and a love of scientific discovery Collaboration & Professional Growth Participate in weekly professional development and professional learning communitiesCollaborate with grade-level teams and instructional leaders to strengthen instructional practicesAnalyze student data and adjust instruction to improve student outcomesContribute to school-wide systems focused on student achievement and continuous improvement Family Engagement Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress and academic expectationsLead parent-teacher conferences and maintain strong home-school partnershipsProvide families with appropriate updates regarding student achievement, classroom expectations, and areas for growth Minimum Qualifications Candidates must meet the following requirements: Valid teaching license issued by the Nevada Department of Education (NDE)Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Science, Education, or a related fieldDemonstrated ability to manage a classroom and create a positive learning environmentCommitment to serving Title I and multilingual learner communitiesStrong analytical skills and enthusiasm for data-driven instructionAbility to collaborate effectively with colleagues and instructional leaders Preferred Qualifications Previous middle school science teaching experienceExperience teaching life science, physical science, earth science, or related middle school science courseworkExperience working in Title 1Experience supporting English Language LearnersExperience incorporating hands-on science investigations and project-based learningBilingual (Spanish-English) preferred Compensation & Benefits AMS offers a competitive compensation and benefits package designed to support professional growth and long-term career success.
