Middle School Science Teacher

About the role
The Middle School Science Teacher will provide daily instruction in science to middle school students, using engaging, standards-aligned lessons that support a variety of learning styles. This is a full-time, on-site position located in New Kent, VA.
Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver science lessons aligned with state and district standards.
- Assess student progress, provide feedback, and maintain accurate records of grades and attendance.
- Create a safe, inclusive classroom climate and manage classroom behavior.
- Integrate hands-on activities and technology to support science learning.
- Collaborate with colleagues and families to support student success.
- Participate in professional development and contribute to school initiatives and extracurricular activities as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Science, or a related field; advanced degree or relevant certifications are a plus.
- Strong science education background with demonstrated effectiveness teaching at the middle school level.
- Valid teaching license or eligibility for licensure in Science for middle grades in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
- Proficiency in lesson planning and curriculum development aligned with state and district standards.
- Excellent communication skills for interacting with students, families, colleagues, and administrators.
- Ability to use instructional technology, data-informed practices, and differentiation to support diverse learners.
- Commitment to equity, culturally responsive teaching, and positive classroom management strategies.
- Experience with collaborative team teaching, interdisciplinary projects, or STEM initiatives is preferred.
