About the Role
Indiana Connections Academy (INCA) is a tuition-free, virtual public charter school for students in grades K-12 throughout Indiana. INCA is authorized by Ball State University, accredited by the North Central Association Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement, and governed by an independent Board of Directors. As a Middle School Physical Education Teacher, you will work remotely from your home office in Indiana, managing instructional programs and supporting students and their learning coaches.
Responsibilities
- Complete all grading, create progress reports, and conduct parent conferences in a timely manner.
- Support the instructional program with asynchronous web conferencing sessions and synchronous instruction.
- Review curriculum and devise alternate approaches to presenting lessons to increase student understanding (working directly with students and parents).
- Communicate with parents, students, and other teachers regularly to develop and update Personal Learning Plans and schedules, score assessments, provide feedback, suggest instructional approaches, monitor assignment completion, and coach special projects.
- Work collaboratively with other teachers to ensure student progress, provide a central point of contact for parents, and distribute tasks among the team.
- Develop a detailed knowledge of the K-12 curriculum, particularly the courses you are responsible for.
- Support students and parents with alternate strategies and additional assistance for daily assignments and projects.
- Maintain up-to-date student records, including cumulative files, online student/family information, attendance, and logs of all student/parent contacts.
- Consult with teachers and learning specialists to develop alternate enrichment activities and modifications to increase student understanding.
- Devise and implement virtual methods to create and maintain a "school community."
- Participate in the organization and administration of State Testing as directed.
- Work with Advisory Teachers and School Counselors to ensure students and families receive appropriate communications and students meet established goals.
- Attend field trips and other community activities for families.
- Occasional travel for marketing and state testing events (may require overnight stays).
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Highly qualified and certified to teach Middle School Physical Education in Indiana.
- Residency in Indiana.
- Strong technology skills, particularly with Microsoft OS and MS Office programs.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Customer-focused approach with a high degree of flexibility.
- Demonstrated ability to work well in a fast-paced environment.
- Proven team player track record.
- Willingness to work occasional evening hours to support families.
- Must be able to use a personal electronic device and an email address for two-step authentication.
