Middle School Physical Education Teacher

About the Role

The Middle School Physical Education Teacher is responsible for providing instruction to students in physical education in assigned courses as specified in the District's curriculum. This position is for the 2026/2027 school year.

Responsibilities

• Plans and prepares for classroom instruction.
• Maintains knowledge of physical education subject area and teaches to District objectives and/or student IEP's.
• Personalizes instruction to account for individual student differences.
• Provides instruction using various techniques and instructional strategies.
• Utilizes appropriate assessment strategies to measure learning and performance.
• Ensures equity in the classroom by providing equal opportunity for all students regardless of race, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, background, and abilities.
• Communicates with and maintains positive relationships with students and parents.
• Manages student behavior in the classroom and throughout the school environment.
• Organizes the classroom to promote learning and student safety, ensuring equipment functions safely.
• Enforces school rules in hallways, on school grounds, and during school-sponsored trips.
• Participates in professional growth activities such as workshops, conferences, and school/District committees.
• Follows school and District policies and procedures.
• Demonstrates professional responsibility, including ethical behavior, meeting deadlines, and maintaining confidentiality.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree.
• Certification from Wyoming Professional Teaching Standards Board with endorsement in physical education.
• Experience as a secondary physical education teacher is preferred.

Physical Abilities & Working Conditions

• Vision: Ability (corrected if necessary) to read small print and view a computer screen for prolonged periods.
• Hearing: Ability (corrected if necessary) to answer telephones and tolerate noisy conditions.
• Speech: Ability to be understood in face-to-face communications and over the telephone.
• Upper Body Mobility: Use of hands and fingers to grasp and manipulate objects; ability to twist, bend, reach, and lift objects.
• Strength: Ability to lift, push, pull, and/or carry objects weighing up to 45 pounds or more on a frequent basis.
• Environmental Requirements: Ability to work indoors and outdoors, handle constant interruptions, work cooperatively with others, and work independently.
• Mental Requirements: Ability to read, write, interpret, and apply information at a moderately complex level; proficiency in basic math; quick processing of information; ability to follow verbal procedures and standards; ability to give verbal instructions; prioritize tasks; and manage records.
• May require travel to multiple sites.
