Middle School PE/Health Teacher 13047-2026

Leave-replacement, full-time position for the 2026-2027 school year. Open until filled; FLSA exempt.

Qualifications

• Valid Washington State teaching certificate with an endorsement in assigned teaching area(s)
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher learning; Master’s preferred
• Successful teaching experience in middle and/or high school is preferred
• Successful experience teaching across diverse populations, preferred
• Ability to work collaboratively with students and their parents who are culturally, racially, and linguistically diverse and from varied socio-economic backgrounds
• Ability to communicate professionally, positively, and respectfully with students, parents, staff, and community members
• Demonstrates curiosity and a passion for learning and believes that learning is a social endeavor
• Familiarity with a wide variety of teaching techniques which are used to maximize student learning
• Proven ability to provide an instructional program for students geared to meet their individual needs at their instructional level
• Willingness and desire to assist a teaching team in implementing an interdisciplinary instructional program
• Advanced ability to use technology as an effective communication, planning, and instructional tool
• Ability to work in a semi-open or self-contained classroom
• Willingness and desire to collaborate with a professional learning community
• Willingness to participate in professional development opportunities aligned with school and district initiatives
• Willingness to communicate with parents
• Willingness to work closely with instructional committees to research, plan, and implement innovative ways to improve student learning

Responsibilities

• Infuses contextual learning opportunities into subject area
• Teaches in an instructional program that meets the students’ individual needs at their individual instructional level and makes modifications when necessary
• Guides students to research, analyze data, and problem-solve in a global context
• Designs learning experiences and assessments that allow students to demonstrate applied skills
• Quickly learns and infuses emerging technologies into teaching, learning, and assessment
• Actively engages students in using technology in individual and collaborative learning activities
• Works as an enthusiastic part of a learning-centered environment believing that each student can learn
• Works collaboratively within the professional learning community to improve instruction, learning, and assessment
• Maintains effective, positive classroom management
• Provides a safe environment
• Works in a flexible and cooperative manner
• Treats co-workers, supervisors, students, parents and others with dignity and respect at all times
• Serves as a positive role model for students, and practices the behaviors that are expected of our students
• Cooperates as a professional team member, accepts faculty responsibilities, and represents the best interests of the school
• Maintains regular and punctual attendance and hours of operation as set by the assigned building/location and the Comprehensive Professional Agreement to carry out the duties and responsibilities of the position to achieve program requirements

Benefits

• Salary range: $67,165 – $126,599 (includes Base & TRI enrichment; commensurate upon FTE, degree, credits and experience)
• Additional Compensation: Certificated positions may have additional pay provisions above what is represented on the salary range such as, but not limited to TRI professional learning, extended year days, extra appendix E supplemental days and professional development reimbursement
• Health & Insurance: Employees who are anticipated to work at least 630 hours may be eligible for health, dental, vision, flexible spending accounts, life, and disability insurance benefits
• Retirement: Employees may be eligible for retirement benefits through the Washington State Department of Retirement Systems (DRS)
• Time Off:
  • Sick Leave: 8 hours per month (part-time employee accrual will be proportionate to their FTE)
  • Personal Leave: 3 days per school year
  • Includes paid time off, sick, personal, religious, military and bereavement leave
