Responsibilities

• Explain middle school math concepts including integers, fractions, decimals, percentages, ratios, proportions, order of operations, algebraic expressions, basic equations, geometry fundamentals, measurement, and data analysis.
• Build strong foundational skills for high school mathematics and standardized testing, focusing on number sense, coordinate plane plotting, and mathematical reasoning.
• Break down fraction operations, proportion problems, and multi-step word problems using visual models and hands-on manipulatives.
• Guide students through pre-algebra concepts, geometric area and volume calculations, and interpreting statistical graphs.
• Emphasize conceptual understanding through real-world contexts like recipes, budgeting, sports statistics, and everyday applications.
• Adapt instruction using concrete-pictorial-abstract progression, interactive activities, and targeted scaffolding to support abstract reasoning and build confidence.
• Identify common student struggles and explain material using multiple approaches to meet individual learning needs.

Requirements

• Deep knowledge of middle school math standards for grades six through eight, including fraction division, negative number operations, and solving multi-step equations.
• Familiarity with common student challenges and ability to adapt instruction accordingly.
• Strong communication skills and a friendly, engaging teaching style.
• Ability to adapt to different learning styles and student needs.
