As a Middle School Math Teacher, you will create and implement a flexible program and classroom environment conducive to student learning and personal growth. You will develop lesson plans aligned with established guidelines, build effective rapport with students, staff, and parents, and motivate students to develop skills, attitudes, and knowledge for a strong educational foundation.

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement a program of instruction adhering to the company’s philosophy, goals, and objectives as outlined in adopted courses of study.
• Create purposeful and appropriate lesson plans that maximize time on task and provide real-world, application-based learning opportunities.
• Review student records to understand each student’s abilities and needs; maintain accurate and complete student records.
• Maximize educational achievement for each student using a variety of instructional techniques and differentiated instruction.
• Utilize diagnostic assessments frequently to evaluate student learning, provide appropriate activities to address needs, and generate progress reports.
• Refer students with suspected learning problems to appropriate support personnel.
• Assign lessons, correct student work, and review oral presentations.
• Coordinate class field trips as required and prepare students for state-required achievement assessments.
• Stay current in subject matter knowledge and learning theory, sharing insights for continual curriculum improvement.
• Assist in the ongoing curriculum revision process and the selection of instructional materials.
• Create a classroom environment conducive to learning, appropriate to student maturity and interests.
• Maintain positive rapport with students, demonstrating patience and nurturing to support growth.
• Ensure the classroom is clean, safe, and includes student-generated work on display as appropriate.
• Implement relevant policies governing student conduct and develop reasonable rules for classroom and playground behavior.
• Develop lesson plans consistent with established guidelines and participate in curriculum planning with other staff members.
• Incorporate diagnostic information from students’ Individual Education Plans (IEPs) into instructional planning.
• Take necessary precautions to protect supplies, equipment, and facilities needed for the instructional program.
• Strive to establish cooperative relations and communicate effectively with parents/guardians when appropriate.
• Maintain confidentiality regarding student records and participate in parent communication activities and extracurricular events to foster a positive school culture.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree (BA) from an accredited college or university or equivalent.
• Possession of valid teaching certification (as appropriate).
• Minimum of one (1) to three (3) years of successful teaching experience (may include Student Teaching Internship experience).
• Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
• Command of grade/subject-specific content and theoretical knowledge of learning theory, including motivation, reinforcement, evaluation, and feedback techniques.
• Understanding of and commitment to company values.
• Successful results of criminal and employment background check.
• Effective instructional delivery techniques and excellent communication skills.
• Adherence to the requirements of the Code of Ethics for the Education Profession.

Work Environment

• Usual school working conditions, which may be noisy during high student traffic.
• Somewhat stressful due to frequent student activity.

Physical Demands

• Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force as frequently needed to move objects.
