Middle School Math Interventionist

About the Role

The Interventionist works with the "At-Risk" student population to provide remediation and support academic growth. This is a full-time, virtual position requiring the ability to work independently, typically 40+ hours per week. The role involves maintaining a professional home office without distraction during work hours, generally 9-5 (or 8-4) or as defined by the school.

Responsibilities

• Modify and adapt the K12 curriculum in alignment with state content standards to meet the unique needs of each student.
• Collaborate with general education teachers to meet the goals of targeted students through individualized and small group sessions.
• Educate parents on various instructional strategies.
• Ensure the implementation of the RTI (Response to Intervention) instructional system to increase student achievement.
• Oversee data collection and progress monitoring at every tier.
• Use data to help teachers plan whole and small group instruction; provide guidance on identifying and grouping students needing additional help.
• Collect and maintain all RTI data, including lists of eligible students and intervention plans.
• Serve as a daily resource to school administrators, leadership teams, and stakeholders regarding RTI issues.
• Collaborate with homeroom teachers, advisors, counselors, and district personnel to coordinate and track Tier 2 interventions.
• Provide ongoing training and support to school/district staff on RTI implementation and data collection procedures.
• Support teachers in documenting student progress.
• Work with the special education team to facilitate eligibility for special education.
• Travel up to 20% of the time for face-to-face professional development, student testing, or as required by the school.

Requirements

• Appropriate state Department of Education Middle School (5-8) Math Teaching Certification.
• If the current teaching certification is from another state, proof of South Carolina license application must be provided within 7 days of the start date, and an approved South Carolina teaching license must be obtained within 90 days.
• South Carolina residency preferred; candidates residing in North Carolina or Georgia may be considered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree.
• Active state teaching license.
• Ability to clear required background check.
• Ability to work collaboratively with teachers to interpret and produce numeric, tabular, and graphic representations of student data for instructional decisions.
• Receptive to coaching from administrators and teacher trainers.
• Ability to embrace change and adapt to ensure excellent student outcomes.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Ability to rapidly learn and adapt to new technologies and teaching platforms.
• Ability to maintain teacher certification/professional development hours and fluency in K12 systems, programs, and curriculum.

• Experience working with the proposed age group (middle school, grades 5-8).
• Experience supporting adults and children in the use of technology.
• Experience teaching in an online (virtual) and/or brick-and-mortar environment.
• Experience with online learning platforms.

Pay

Starting salary of $55,000 with eligibility for a performance bonus.

Schedule

Full-time position for the School Year 2026/2027. Work hours are typically 40+ per week, generally 9-5 (or 8-4) or as defined by the school.
