About the role

The Middle School humanities program integrates the study of English, language arts, social studies, geography, and history in an interdisciplinary manner, providing an engaging framework for students to read, write, research, and explore the forces that shape the human experience.

Responsibilities

• Assigning regular writing experiences for students with frequent feedback on grammar, vocabulary, sentence structure, and paragraph/essay layout.
• Helping students see the complexities and nuances of humanity in our societal makeup through interdisciplinary teaching.
• Serving as a grade-level advisor, meeting with a group of advisees each morning to start the day.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field
• 3-5 years of related teaching experience (i.e. English, language arts, social studies, history, etc.)
• Demonstrated success teaching grammar, composition, and writing
• Demonstrated ability to design engaging, interdisciplinary humanities curriculum
• Experience differentiating instruction to support a range of learners
• Strong content knowledge in history and social studies
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
