Responsibilities

• Provide personalized 1-on-1 online tutoring to middle school students.
• Accept on-demand tutoring requests when available.
• Teach literary analysis, informational text comprehension, grammar, writing conventions, vocabulary development, and argumentative/narrative writing.
• Prepare students for high school English and standardized assessments by explaining theme analysis, figurative language, essay structure, and citation practices.
• Integrate reading, writing, grammar, and oral communication instruction to develop critical literacy skills.
• Adapt instruction using diverse materials, writing workshops, and grammar-in-context activities for varying proficiency levels.
• Identify and address common student struggles using multiple teaching approaches tailored to individual learning needs.

Requirements

• Deep knowledge of middle school English Language Arts standards for grades six through eight.
• Familiarity with common challenges such as literary analysis depth, essay organization, and grammar application in writing.
• Ability to explain concepts using multiple approaches and adapt instruction to different learning styles.
• Strong communication skills and an engaging, friendly teaching style.
