About the role
Dr. John Ochsner Discovery Health Sciences Academy seeks a State Certified English Language Arts (ELA) Teacher for middle school.
Responsibilities
- Teach ELA to middle school students
- Implement Louisiana Student Standards and the LEAP 2025 Assessment
- Lead extracurricular student activities (optional)
- Participate in trainings and workshops in the summer (optional)
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Elementary Education, Middle School Education, Special Education, Curriculum and Instruction, and/or Educational Leadership (plus)
- Reading Specialist and/or ESL certification (desirable)
- 2+ years experience with children in a school setting (preferred)
Qualifications
- Familiarity with Lucy Calkins' Writing Workshop Model (asset)
Skills
- Ability to lead extracurricular activities (plus)
