About the role
A State Certified English Language Arts (ELA) Teacher position is available at Kenner Discovery Health Sciences Academy for middle school students.
Responsibilities
- Teach middle school English Language Arts curriculum aligned with Louisiana Student Standards and LEAP 2025 Assessment.
- Implement Lucy Calkins' Writing Workshop Model and other relevant instructional strategies.
- Lead extracurricular student activities as interest and availability allow.
- Participate in trainings and workshops offered in the summer.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Elementary Education, Middle School Education, Special Education, Curriculum and Instruction, or Educational Leadership.
- Reading Specialist and/or ESL certification.
- 2+ years of teaching experience with children in a school setting.
Qualifications
- Familiarity with Guidebooks 2.0 and other relevant educational materials.
- Interest in leading extracurricular student activities.
Skills
- Effective communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and students.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
